Cost of Attending & Financial Aid Resources
Tuition & Fees
Cost of Attendance
MLA courses are billed at the Graduate rate of tuition. Graduate students enrolled in at least one on-campus course are required to pay all student fees. Please visit the Financial Affairs Web page for information on tuition, fees, and payment options and due dates.
*Please note students enrolled only in MLA courses offered off-campus through the UNC Asheville Office of Distance Education are not required to pay student fees, but therefore do not have access to student services that are covered by student fees. MLA students may apply up to nine credit hours of MLA courses offered through the Office of Distance Education toward the degree. Please visit the MLA/Distance Ed. Collaboration Web page for more information, or contact the MLA Program Office at 828.250.2399.
In-state and Out-of-state Tuition Information
When you apply to UNC Asheville, your initial residency determination will be determined in the Admissions office and is based on the information you provided on your application. For more information on how to apply for in-state residency for tuition purposes, please visit http://registrar.unca.edu/nc-residency.
Financial Aid
Financial Aid is available to qualifying, degree-seeking Master of Liberal Arts students who are enrolled at least half-time (for graduate students, this is 6 credit hours = 2 courses).
Please contact the Office of Financial Aid for information on types of aid and how to apply.
Tuition Management Services
UNC Asheville offers a monthly payment plan option through a partnership with Tuition Management Systems (TMS). Any student may take advantage of a monthly payment plan through TMS. You may contact TMS at www.afford.com or by calling 1.800.356.8329 to set up a payment plan.
Students attending the fall semester must have established a payment plan with TMS by August 1st. Students attending the spring semester must have established a payment plan with TMS by December 15th. Students who miss these dates will not be able to establish a payment plan for the semester and will be expected to make payment in full prior to registering for classes.
Please direct further questions to TMS, 1.800.356.8329 or to the UNC Asheville Cashier's Office, 828.251.6664.
